2-10 Citizen

Name of Project: 2-10 Citizen

Nature of project: Social Experiment

Premise: 2-10 Citizen allows two complete strangers to have conversation that is a meaningful shared experience and serves the purpose of grounding community members in their identity as citizens in just 2-10 minutes.

Execution: I’m offering free facilitator training on a monthly basis - will increase this as the need arises. Facilitators will learn the method and how/where to offer it as well as how to effectively facilitate the conversation in a way that deepens and enhances the experience for both parties.

Facilitators are encouraged to “go live” out into their communities and offer free 2-10 Citizen opportunites. Cafes, public spaces, events, anywhere where people gather, are all great places to make oneself available to facilitate.

The whole point is to get out and give humans the chance to experience one another in an environment that explicitly gives permission to connect. The container provided by 2-10 Citizen lowers the perceived risk of talking to a stranger and increases the likelihood of non-superficial conversation. The potential benefit to both the health/psyche of individuals and communities is immense.

Launch date: I’m hoping to offer the first facilitator training in March/April of 2009.

Hey Sadee–I like the sound of this project, and you know that I’m all for social experiment. I’d be happy to participate in your facilitator training. LMK.

Cheers. Joel

Fantastic! I’ll put you on the list and let you know when and where.
By the way, you should provide a link so people can see what a great company you’ve got.
