Purpose: Success is the only option

When you connect to your purpose, “try” is not an option. Neither is failure.

It is crucial to understand that when you find your purpose it is always much bigger than you are. Always. It can feel daunting, even impossible, to imagine living your purpose. And this is precisely why people ask “Can I really do this?”

What you need to know is that your purpose will grow you until you become big enough to manifest it. This means you have time - that your growth is part of the path of purpose.

Too often when people discover their purpose they ask yes or no questions like “can I do this?” or  “is this really my path?” But these are limiting questions because there are only two answers: yes or no.

Yes or no questions are the wrong questions to ask when exploring purpose. When you discover your purpose you have a choice to say yes or no to accepting it. But after this you need to ask questions that invite much more creative engagement.

Your current imagination of how your purpose manifests is based on everything you are now, not what you are becoming.

None of us has any idea how, exactly, our purpose will manifest. But I can tell you that it will, in all likelihood, look nothing like what you currently imagine.

When you say yes to your purpose, success is the only option becasue you will try and fall down and try again in a different way and fall down and learn ad continue like this until you are living it. Knowing that success is the only option, be patient and diligent and let yourself be possessed by your purpose. You will find the things and people you need and they will find you.

Besides, the journey is at least as much fun as the outcome.

There is no more fulfilling, rich life I can imagine for anyone than a life dedicated to living one’s purpose. So stop asking yes/no questions and start asking questions that start with “How can I…?”

Experiement:

Right now make a list of 10 “How can I…?” questions that have to do with your purpose or life dream.

For example:

How can I get the support I need right now?

How can I tell people about my purpose in a way that is fun and energizing?

How can I create community around my purpose?

How can I embed my purpose into my work?

Feel free to share the questions you come up with so we can all help each other shine.
