bodymind integration

BodyMind Integration is a field of study that is quite broad. At its most basic it is a field of study of how the body and the mind interface.

In BodyMind Integration the practitioner observes the physical characteristics of a person to derive an astonishingly accurate portrait of that person’s general attitude toward life, love, movement, change, their parents, and their beliefs about themselves.

BodyMind Integration has been developed and refined over decades, keeping pace with, and incorporating, the latest findings in scientific fields. Psychoneuroimmunolgy is perhaps one of the more recent scientific discoveries that provides an indisputable link between the body and the mind.

In my own practice of BodyMind Integration I bring a couple of lenses that are crucial to understanding my overall approach and attitudes about humans.

The first is that while BodyMind Integration does reveal a clear pattern and accurate picture of a person’s life, it does not necessarily reveal a person’s conscious relationship to these patterns. In other words, your face, for example, may reveal a father who was very critical and this has made it difficult for you to express your more tender emotions. But what I wont see is your awareness of this and what you are doing about it.

The second, related lens is that while I may see your patterns it doesn’t mean I know you. When people in social situations find out what I do they often want to run and hide! I don’t hold a person’s patterns against them. Quite the opposite - I see all of our patterns as bread crumbs leading to opportunities for shining. Besides, if you aren’t a client your patterns are none of my business and I have better things to do with myself than look at everyone with my x-ray vision.

Using BodyMind Integration gives very fast, accurate information about various members of a team, leaders, couples. It’s a language that allows fast progress and more cohesive, inclusive, and insightful forward movement in whatever area it is applied to.

Imagine, as a leader, wanting to engage employees around a new initiative. Your team is comprised of a variety of individuals and you know some of them will easily be on board. But you have concerns about some other members of your team.

BodyMind Integration will give you a practical perspective that you can then integrate into your conversations, trainings, and initiatives to not only include these people but actually benefit from their participation.

I teach many of my clients a very basic type of face reading that they can use just to get a fresh perspective on people they work with or their spouses or children. It’s hilarious how many people are relieved to discover that their boss/husband/child’s hesitancy is not a lack of shared meaning but simply that they are mentally dominant and need to think about things extensively in order to be comfortable moving forward. They aren’t “slow” or “stubborn”, they’re just processing all the data!

If you are interested in learning more about BodyMind Integration be prepared to encounter information and theory ranging from the extreme western psychological end of the spectrum to the extreme eastern chakra/yoga end with medical science, philosophy, and more in between. It’s a fascinating, vast field.

Betrayed by Your Body?

It always concerns me when someone says that their body betrayed them.  I have heard this from people who are obese, have cancer, lymphatic conditions, fatigue, and more.
First of all, the body is an insanely intelligent masterpiece that has been honed for survival over millions of years. In fact, the body is much, much smarter [...]

Out of your mind

A core theme of my work is differentiating between the stories we live in our minds and reality.
Let me state up front that I’m a big fan of reality - so my bias is toward getting out of your head and your stories and into reality.
The problem is that most of us don’t even realize [...]

A BodyMind look at Laryngitis

7 March, 2009 (15:56) | bodymind integration, glob, vitality | By: sadee

I posted a status update on Facebook that I had laryngitis and a fever. I got some interesting responses with someone asking “isn’t that a symptom of not saying something that needs to be said?”
The person who asked is a very intuitive man who has a great eye for body language. He is interested in [...]
